About Me

I'm Bin Bian — a power systems engineer with 15 years across transmission, distribution, substations, and renewables, now building at the intersection of energy infrastructure and AI.

What I Do

By day, I work on high-voltage power systems — cable design, protection coordination, BESS integration, and network planning. By night, I build AI tools that make engineering work smarter.

I build AI-powered tools that automate engineering workflows, generate podcasts from documents, and manage knowledge. This blog itself is published through a custom AI publishing pipeline I built.

My Background

I started in China designing transmission lines and cable tunnels for the State Grid, then moved to Australia where I've worked across the full spectrum of power systems — from 500kV transmission to 11kV distribution to utility-scale BESS projects. Along the way, I picked up Python, built engineering calculation tools, and fell deep into the AI rabbit hole.

What makes my perspective different: I don't just use AI tools — I build them. And I don't just build software — I understand the engineering domain they serve. That crossover is where the interesting things happen.

Areas of Focus

  • Power Systems Engineering — HV cable design, sheath voltage analysis, protection, thermal ratings, ATP-EMTP simulation
  • AI & Automation — LLM-powered tools, multi-agent workflows, voice synthesis, computer vision for engineering
  • Digital Transformation — Bridging traditional engineering workflows with modern AI capabilities
  • AI Tools — Building personal AI systems for productivity, content creation, and engineering automation

Beyond Work

I'm a Zumba regular, a board game enthusiast, and an AI music creator. I occasionally write about the tools and ideas I'm exploring.
